On March 27/05 our 8:00 am Easter Contemporary service came together
with the southing sounds of the birds singing and the water flowing.
The feeling of spring was surely felt by everyone on this beautiful
Easter morning.
Lovely Easter lilies, placed in various places in
the sanctuary, of our church, placed there in memory of loved ones
that have passed on, added that special feeling of love, during
this holy season of Easter.
The opening musical prelude was very upbeat and fun.
The Easter hymns were very fitting and enjoyed by all as we came
to worship and celebrate Christ's resurrection.
Ollie and Ken opened with the call to worship and
the opening prayer. The congregation turned to each other, recognized,
felt and sensed God's presence. Everyone shouted "Alleluia,
Christ is risen!"
Donna lit the Christ candle. We journeyed through
Lent in our journey of faith, moving from the shadows we opened
to the light and truth of Christ.
Barb spoke with the children on making sense of a
different or difficult situation in life as Peter, one of Jesus
friends learned from Easter, that God loves everyone, no matter
what their situation may be or what their race may be. All the children
praised God by waving their blue streamers shouting "Alleluia!"
Susan read the gospel lesson, Matthew 28:1-10 which
speaks of Jesus resurrection. The Easter worship proclaims Christ's
resurrection to all the world. God show no partiality and embraces
all people on this day and everyday.
During the meditation each of the scripture passages
were read three times by our team members with a different inflection
of each passage each time. Jesus died and was raised to life for
us. Jesus said, "Peace be with you." And our sins are
forgiven.
Debbie, Dustin and Brett read from the bulletin the
Easter litany. They whispered. The congregation shouted, as Christ's
resurrection wasrealized and understood.
The crown of thorns, the white burial cloth, the cross
and the huge stone were displayed at the front of the sanctuary.
As Susan read each meditation sequence, each team member carried
out each object and placed them in the lobby of the church. We learned
from this sequence that there is no end to love. Love is everlasting.
Debbie led us in the offertory and the prayer of dedication.
We care and share as we commit to be faithful witnesses to Christ.
Kathy and Carroll Henderson led us in the Easter Communion as all
the congregation shared in the Lord's supper in the celebration
of the risen Christ.
The Easter blessing concluded our service and we were
asked to go and tell the good news everywhere that Christ is risen
for us!
A beautiful Easter breakfast followed this very powerful Easter
service.
